My propane is going haywire - waldenbound - 09-07-2019

While I was in Roswell, the temperature rose to about 105. I walked by the tongue of the trailer and heard hissing. The pigtail hose popped off at the regulator.  It wasn’t a screw in kind, it fit onto a barb connector and just popped off.
I got another pigtail, the kind that screws on this time. I took the barb fitting off, screwed the connector into the regulator, used the yellow gas line tape, even did the soapy spray water test. I didn’t test it right away because it was so hot, I didn’t need propane.
Now, I just tried to light my burner and they don’t work. How would the act of changing the pigtail connector make the whole thing not work???

Is the valve on?

Is the connection the right one?  Some are not deep enough to make the internal valve open.

Is there propane in the tank?

All mistakes I have made.

I heard I have to purge the lines of any trapped air.
I’m guessing the connection is the right one. It’s like my other one only it screws in.

To purge the air, I have to turn the tank back on, and light the burner, then wait to get a flame. What safety measure do I need to do to prevent ka-boom?

The connector is a type 1.

Ok, I had to purge the lines. I had someone come and stand with the fire extinguisher in case of ka-boom.

Yep, if you dont purge the lines, the fridge, the furnace, the water heater and of course the stove wont work.

If you still have eyebrows, you did it right.

“Match in the gas tank, boom boom!”

What is that quote from? Anyone.

Gilbert Grape and Arnie.   What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

One one of my favorite movies along with Benny and Joon.  I like the oddball ones.

Well, we used to say that when I was a little kid. Which is a looooooooooooooong time before Gilbert Grape. Which I also loved.
