RE: LooC (Lucy) - GypsyDogs - 11-03-2022 So- said ‘uncle’ and took her into a highly rated shop for full diagnostic. Came back with several things I knew and one I didn’t. They said I had a misfire on cyl 1 and that coukd be the likely cause of the jerkyness. Of course they wanted Stupid amounts of money to do a tune up ($1500!) So I sent the diagnosis to a different mechanic- mobile guy.. and he said he could/would do that, fix the power steering leak, swap out the aging drive belt, and fix the small heater core hose leaks - all for about $1200-1500. Parts, labor, and fluids! Needless to say, I said Yes! RE: LooC (Lucy) - RoamerRV428 - 11-03-2022 so get that. price shop costs is key in this darn ick economic times we are facing, ya did good on that next repair price!! COOL!! Girl you are rollin' forward, love it!!! LooC is gonna treat ya fine down the road later cause you are caring for her well
RE: LooC (Lucy) - GypsyDogs - 11-03-2022 Doin my best.. doin my best…
RE: LooC (Lucy) - GypsyDogs - 11-13-2022 While waiting for parts to arrive— I did some more custom work.. lol Made insulated curtains And maybe figured out how to get my slider curtains to stay stuck.. (spoilers- JB Weld for plastic does not stick to scuffed body plastic (face palm) so..) So I made grab holes for the epoxy to bite into.. Left it overnight to cure.. we shall see if I need a Plan-C later today. And still need to insulate the rear curtains.. But between these and reflectix inserts.. should manage ‘cozy’ in winter RE: LooC (Lucy) - GypsyDogs - 11-13-2022 Good news- they stuck! Now to figure out a lower retention line to counteract the outward curve of the doors…. Hmm.. maybe just another set of d-rings and a light cord.. will also help keep the curtains from slogging across wet van side panels when I open the door… RE: LooC (Lucy) - sternwake - 11-13-2022 Magnets. Some round ones have hole in middle for screw/ thread/dental floss. Suoer glue sticks to plastic pretty well, but lots.of interior plastic has been wiped at.one time, with armor all or similar. Which prevents adhesion. Lots of wiping with rubbing alcohol required. Masking tape test it. Easy to tell if more alcohol scrubbing required. Dont forget gloves unless you like pain from cracked fingertips. LooC (Lucy) - Scott7022 - 11-13-2022 Yeah armor all the Bain of painters and reupholsterers alike. Fisheyes in your paint and no sticky sticky. I got a dash cover in the same grey color as the new carpet I ordered. Dash pad lightly sprayed and hung in the sun to take the folds out. But the dash obviously sprayed with offending fluid. Gun degreasing sprays. Soap and water and loads of hand sanitizer to get it kind of clean then denatured wipes to bring it home. 24 hours to dry and get warm to better mold the cover to the angles. Love the bespoke curtains. Certainly going to order a pair for my front as I love how you covered the above the rod issues. Houses are square ours are not. That is if you are so inclined to make more bespoke glass coverings. Awesome job and glad the JB weld worked for you. SternW- The problematic windows are not the ones shown in the pic.. the issue is with the sliders- I would need a Lot of magnets.. to hold the length of curtain well enough. I am thinking a line that goes along the bottom, maybe 3-4” up from the hem.. and just tuck the curtain behind that.. or a 2nd curtain rod (but just a length of cord) on the bottom edge of the window/curtain.. kind of like in RVs but turned lengthwise instead of the short edges…. Should help a lot with chill drafts too RE: LooC (Lucy) - sternwake - 11-14-2022 Ahh. My window frames are white oak I use black bungee cord, hooked.over rope cleats to fight gravity/heat /light ingress. Hold.my pillows/towels/blankets up against window, out.of the way. LooC (Lucy) - Scott7022 - 11-15-2022 That’s smart. Steal. Thanks Sternwake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
