Adhesive already failed. I attached magnets to the shades and we put screws with washers to the vinyl windows.

How would you hold up Velcro I could sew it to the shade but The adhesive is an issue with Velcro on the window.

Is this the fan vent "window" you are asking about?
Or a window in the front / side / rear of the van?

If you are putting the reflextic into the side windows. You don't need anything to hold it in. Just cut
the reflextic the size of your window, and maybe a slight bit larger and it will press in where the black
gasket material is and hold itself in. No velcro, or magnets or anything needed...

We need something to hold it in the big windows - the magnets and washers work - but gravity won’t let us just stuff the big ones... I suppose Velcro could be screwed in like the washers.

I have the Nissan Cargo Van... very large window.
I cut the reflextic, and put a slit in it so it would fit around the mirror.
Then I put my visors down, and this holds the reflextic in place.
Not as tight as the side windows, but at night they work just fine so
no one can see in and not much light can be seen around the edges.
As far as during the day, the front window reflextic works great as a sun
block, and really knocks down the HUGE amount of heat coming in from
the sun. Because it works so well I have not tried to make it "tight".
Have you tried just cutting it to size and putting it in your van as I mentioned above?

Yes we cut it to size initially. It did not stay in the window. Magnets work for the most part. We are trying to find another van but nothing has turned up yet.

If gravity is causing a sag, try taping something stiffer in the middle of the reflectix. I used some ~22" x 1.5" x 1/8" white oak strips on the very edges that I had left over after making something custom using my table saw, and the center of the reflectix windshield shade has some super stiff non corrugated cardboard preventing it from creasing in the middle.
My drivers and passenger door panels are slightly oversized, and I left some flexfix tape beyond those perimeters that I can put a magnet on top of, and no way could the panel then move.
Always try and roll or crease the reflectix in the same manner. Developing a system will occur without trying, but trying to develop a system / rolling unrolling habit right off the bat can make setting up the front window shades a 20 second task rather than a 3 inute curse fast..
While this all adds weight and bulk, the visors alone are enough to keep it tight to my windshield with very little light escaping the corners.
