RE: Nelson - GypsyDogs - 07-17-2018

got the larger rearmost window covers screwed in..
I mean- trimmed and smished in - using the rfx edge-hold factor. Smile

lol
Still trying to figure out how to screw the velcro to the glass on those little tiny rear wings.. Wink

RE: Nelson - rvpopeye - 07-17-2018

Hmmmmmm, glass screws......unobtanium.

Could the covers be made bigger to go to metal instead ?

Poster Putty the Reflectix right to the window?

On a lot of my rigs I have put in little shelves below the windows that I put an insulated wood cover on.
Another piece of wood above the window that had a small wood piece attached that would rotate down to lock the cover in place for travel orr to remove to look outside.

Some of these I modified to incorporate solar heating...
I think I have a pic somewhere if this is as confusing to read as it is to describe. .

'trying' to keep the actual vehicle Stock.
And use my creative Sybrification (aka- oob engineering) to solve problems. Keeps me from wanting a real camping g rig.. as much.. ish

RE: Nelson - rvpopeye - 07-18-2018

STOCK ???? Confused

That's no fun....

RE: Nelson - GypsyDogs - 07-20-2018

Yeah well.. Nelson is also my daily driver and grocery getter and hauls dogs and people so stock is preferable.  I don't want to be hacking up the virtually NEW interior to make changes that, currently, are only be for occasional uses.  Makes no sense to me.

Besides.. I am enjoying the 'feel' of a 'new' car... lol  This is the nicest vehicle I have EVER had.  And I'd like to keep him that way.
I'll save the permanent mods for the eventual trailer.   Big Grin

RE: Nelson - GypsyDogs - 08-08-2018

And-- verdict is in
MPG..
Combo city/hwy= 14
Hwy 18.5+

considering age/type of vehicle.. I'm ok with that.

RE: Nelson - GypsyDogs - 08-23-2018

Woo!  Thanks to a holiday, I am planning on trying an overnight camp in Nelson this Lday weekend! Go visit my sister and neice, and check out a couple new °legal° overnight camp spots.  With Nelson looking like Just a car, we will likely not even be noticed.
Yes, I'll let you know how it goes, and yes, I will post pictures.
Cool

RE: Nelson - GypsyDogs - 09-10-2018

Oh.. camp out got delayed a weekend..  But. we did it.
Bearing in mind Nelson is my daily driver- go to work/get groceries car...and eventual tow vehicle..so no 'permanent' mods

Kids and I were invited to a dog-rally.  Local English Shep group does it every year.
Friend of mine got some pics of us running the obstacle course

Then we went to one of the little known 'camping' sites in our old home town.

Can you guess which of these vehicles has 3 bodies 'living' in it?
lol

and the obligatory morning coffee shot.

Figured out the window cover problem.  No screws.. just 2xstick tape and neodymium magnets and a little bit of measuring tape.
I was also having cave/fold problems with the rear window shade.  The span is so wide, and the natural fold is in the middle.. so I used more measuring tape and some duct tape to keep it wanting to stay flat when in the window.. but still be foldable. (see silver duct tape on right side edge of folded curtain in coffee pic)

This is no real solution - merely a way to escape occasionally and go find quiet.
Still trying to sell the blue van, Miles, and get a small Fibey trailer.
