Got a new truck today! - Everyroadleadshome - 07-21-2018
Bought a brand new truck today. Kind of unexpectedly but i've been wanting to upgrade to a 3/4 ton for awhile. My engine on my 2013 1/2 ton shit the bed on Wednesday........it had 102k and prior to this incident the truck was completely flawless from day one when I bought it new, still had the original brakes even. Original everything except oil changes and tires. It was down two quarts of oil from the last oil change 1800 miles ago and I lost cylinder 2 and 7, bad lifters. Normally those 5.3 are pretty much bullet proof.
So I fought with Chevy the last few days and the dealership I bought it from was very instrumental in helping me with that process. The trade in value had the engine not crapped out would have been about 11k in the condition it was in. I dented the rear quarter last year and rear bumper when I first got it. And I lazily didn't protect the rear from my dog and all the dirt he liked to drag in with him. After it was all said and done I got 9k for the trade in and 10,500 off the sticker price of the new truck. Chevy gave me a 2k trade in allowance on top of the 7k the dealer was able to give me for it. And I didn't qualify for all the current Chevy rebates so Chevy allowed the dealer to give me an additional 2k off the new truck on top of the 8500 in rebates they were currently offering.
So all in all I was satisfied with the transaction and I now have a truck with 7 miles, a full warranty and upgraded to a 2500. Towing will no longer be an issue. : ) I always felt the half ton was a little under powered, even when towing loads just over half of it's max towing capacity.

I like it.. except the color. My next truck is gonna be painted the color of bug guts so I never have to wash it.
