Thinking about the life- looking to get my feet wet - CamoCountrygirl - 09-30-2019 Hi everyone! I am a part time camper...have a little older travel trailer...and am semi retired...becoming more and more disillusioned with this "American Dream" thing....and being on this hamster wheel of life....I have always been a grounded responsible homebody type- but lost my enthusiasm somewhere along the line and am beginning to consider my options....I live in Southern Arizona and after so many summers in the desert I have about had it with the heat...sure I could move, but anything I desire would surely include some kind of mortgage- even after the proceeds of my little place...not sure I want to do that all over again...being tied...indebted to the system...and once again on the hamster wheel like a rat....although I am intrigued with the nomadic lifestyle, not sure if that might not be too extreme for me- of course I am scared...so a very nice member of this site saw my post about my plight on another RV living forum and sent me the link for this forum....she also invited me to the YARC gathering in Quartzite to help me get my feel wet and meet people...although I am gonna wait until it's a bit cooler, I do plan on dropping by the YARC camp for a few days....I am a single gal and it will be just me and my 2 hiking dogs...so I would enjoy touching base with other YARC members...maybe getting to know everyone a little through email exchange ...it sure would help me feel a bit more comfortable! Even though the YARC camp is small and cozy the Quartzite gathering is a little intimidating....looking forward to meeting others! RE: Thinking about the life- looking to get my feet wet - regis101 - 09-30-2019 Nicely written.. I know that I and I'm sure others, could have had more than one, yep yep - I concur, head nods while reading. You're not alone at all. So drive fast and take chances or drive slow and be cautious, but just drive. ^j^ RE: Thinking about the life- looking to get my feet wet - GotSmart - 09-30-2019 Hmmm. I wonder who that could be. YARC CAMP is a mellow place with no demands and no pressure. We have a mascot mouse, bird, cactus and rock. It is run by a cat or three and dogs are allowed. RE: Thinking about the life- looking to get my feet wet - Abnorm - 09-30-2019 John GotSmart was in Vanderbilt University hospital earlier today...…………Checking to see IF he HAS a Heart ????? Thinking about the life- looking to get my feet wet - MoonTiger - 09-30-2019 @CamoCountrygirl Welcome! Hope you can make it to the YARC camp at La Posa South. It's very early in the season so there are only 2 rigs here at the moment (with 2 men, 2 women, 3 cats, and 2 dogs). More nomads will arrive as the temps cool down. We're a friendly bunch. We usually have a community breakfast and dinner. (Doug/Abnorm) is the camp cook. Participation is voluntary. And we have a certain member who likes to take new arrivals on her puttputt (ATV) to see the local petroglyphs. So much fun! We do more than that, but you have to be here to find out. Hope to see you whether it's for a few days or more.
