I forgot to include it in this thread, but after the second time somebody called the cops thinking Fiona was locked in an unventilated hot Van while I was out surfing, I decided to make it much more obvious the van was well ventilated.
This fan shroud fits tightly in the front passenger side window track, and is locked in place by the window though it would not be too difficult to break into. I can install it and plug it in, and roll up the window to lock it in place, in about 10 seconds.
The 2 120Mm fans exhaust about 200 to 240 CFM for about 15 watts at 12.8v. Depends on the voltage I feed them.
I have some old ciggy plug style voltage regulators which can choose 3, 4.5, 6, 9 and 12.0 volts. Yes they are horrible and like to wiggle their way loose from the receptacles, but at least pulling only 15 watts max they willl not melt.
I can also plug the fan shroud directly into regular battery voltage which might be as high as 14.7v and get even more air movement.
Their extra airflow is very nice, as they are exhausting on the opposite end of the van from my intake fans, and my third chair is right inbetween. The front cabin was previously out of the main flow of air exchange, and parked facing south even with reflectix shades up along with another insulative barrier, the front would be significantly hotter than the rear, with engine heat also adding to it. so these front exhaust fans make a much bigger difference than I thought they would.

The “puppy police” thing is really getting crazy. I had someone leave a note on my truck, while I was in Walmart for 15 minutes, that they were going to call the police on me if they see me leave my dogs in my truck again. The temp was in the low 60’s and one window was almost completely open. WTF?

People seem to revel in their own fabricated indignantion more than usual these days, but there is certainly enough cases of animal abuse out there to warrant concern, however the inability to apply logic and reason is apparently, gone.
If obvious measures taken for the aniimal's confort are not enough, hopefully the police that arrive can see the large thermometer, see the fans, and understand that the animal is in no danger. not happy to be locked inside instead of free to run around, but in no Danger.
Fiona will get all worked up if someone is standing around trying to look inside, and making eye contact. These doo gooders do not realize they are stressing her out, or do, and don't care.
Fiona needs a view, any time she is outside she positions herself to be able to see all entrances and exits in the immediate area, as well as anyplace a crow might decide to stop.
I have made that front seat perch so she can easily see out, but even with the new fans, I have been putting reflectix in that window below the fans, so she is not so easily seen. I need to get some one way mirror film to put up when I set up the fans.
I've had no issues since the fans, but she will occassionally see someone she recognizes and yip and yelp and draw attention to herself, and will sometimes do the same the second I step out of view when walking away. The yipping and yelping can almost be eliminated if i walk her around the parking lot before going into the stores but if it is hot out then she is panting hard when i lock her inside when I go into the stores. Sometimes i will wet her down and put the fans directly on her, but then the van smells like wet dog.
Interestingly, if she is ocean water wet, she does not stink, and she does not scratch nearly as much afterwards, so I try and prevent the fresh water thing. However it is a 350$ fine if I get caught with her on the beach.
Seems like a No win situation.

+1 Cute Beast!!!
When I had a dog I worried about the smell, but the dog seemed to put up with me.
You need to put up a windshield reflector and reflectrix everything else.
People's interactions with the little beast are obviously becoming a serious issue-
Next time it'll be a broken window and the dog impounded. Lots more than $350.
Fining people for a dog on the beach? You're a step away from having your pic in the post office!

Got an Email from Noctua early this AM, they wanted address confirmation and will send a replacement, and will send a UPS shipping label as they want the failed fan back for inspection.
Fiona is a cutie pie, in appearance and temperament too. Just a bit of a whack job around other dogs, but getting better.

This is the MAIN and #1 reason I have to sell Miles... The Pup-Nazis. I've seen people glaring at my van, with the kids in the front seats.. with huge thermometer in full view.
I would to Nothing to endanger my kids - and yet.. some, outrage-addicted-snowflake would feel it necessary to bust a window and "Save" my dogs.. and I might never see them again. That would- probably kill me.
My body is a temple- Ancient and crumbling,
probably cursed

I am having dog troubles. Spottie has suddenly developed spinal problems such that his back legs are not working properly. He's been to the vet. She gave him a shot and pills. His quality of life is presently good. He eats and poops and doesn't seem to have any pain.
But he can't easily get in and out of the van anymore. I built him a portable ramp and took him for an overnight to the lake last weekend. It is too much for him, so I brought him home the next morning. It's such a shame as he loves to go places in the van.
As I am single and happily alone, I would enjoy the company of a dog in my travels.
The pup nazis will certainly see to it that in the future, I won't be getting another dog. Such a shame, but they seem way out of control. Absolutely no common sense among them, far as I can see.

Oh no, poor Spotty.
My oldest doggie died a couple of months after I went Nomad. She had a terrible heart defect, so it wasn’t surprising. But for me it was heart breaking.
I can’t imagine doing this without my dogs. They ARE my company, and keep me smiling and happy, and sane. I am willing to lose some freedom in return for having them in my life. For me, being alone isn’t lonely, if I have them to talk to and hang out with.

Yesterday was cloudy and cool, and I went surfing leaving Fiona to look out both front side windows, but with the windshield blocked, ,and my new fan shroud in the passenger side window.
She was making some noise as I returned, but the wind direction was such that she could likely have smelled me when i was walking up the bluff.
i asked the guy win the vehicle parked next to me if she had been barking continuously since he pulled up, and he said he just noticed her right before I came up.
A while later I saw a woman surfer who I has seen in the ocean, parked on the other side of me, and I asked her if Fiona was making noise when she pulled up, and she said yes, she did bark a bit at first, but that she saw the fans and knew she was not in distress.
Sorry to hear about Spotty. I too cannot imagine not having Fiona with me at this point. She is a great shotgun rider.
