While the Jaro fan got a new Vbucker speed controller inOctober or so, It lost speed  control again recently.  I thought it was another bucker failure, but it was a bad  connection at potentiometer.  It got a new bucker and new 2k ohm pot and a bucker protctive housing made from another fan body.  It gets a lot of use, as in always on and is ok for 18v nominal power tool batteries.  But if pot circuit fails on 18v nominal, goodbye fan.

My acrylic fan shroud for front passenger window, with 2 delta Ffb1212ehe suffered another intake fan failure. It had not seen any use since October. This fan was hardened, and I saw.no obvious reason for failure on dissection.  It spun up slowly, and when I cranked it higher, it stopped.

The ffb1212ehe on my ceiling, exhausting, has been running  continuous for several years now.

I.got.two more, and hardened these with Karfuter k105,.instead.of amazing goop and  clear nail polish. The karfuter is.much thinner, and self.levels, and can get to places that  clear nail polish could not.

My esk8 battery chargers are voltage boosters. 12v nominal boosted to 42.0v , or 18v nominal to 42v, and now 25.2v nominal to 42v.

The 5S 18V  nominal are my power tool batteries.  The 7s 25.2v nominal is a junk cell 7s2p esk8 battery.  My good esk8 battery is 36v nominal, 10s2p.

I use the 5s or 7s, to charge 10s through these V boosters. Portable charger.  Get to.park,.and charge battery.  I dont really need the extra range, but its nice having more torque and not have to worry about walking.

The boosters can get pretty hot, 150 watts in, 138 watts out, 12 watts turned to heat.

They need a lot.of airflow over them when pushed this hard.  the 150watter can do 80 without added airflow, the 400 can do 120.

I have some 24v 50mm  delta fans ordered.  Not sure they will even spin at 12v, or handle 29.4v, but will bridge the heatsi ks of the 150 or 400
 nicely.

I tried a new styleV booster for the 7s2p battery.  I pushed it.to 230 watts output today. It might not need a fan..I can add  significant heatsinking, if required, to this booster.  230watts exceeds what my esk8 battery should be fed, but Im thinking about the next battery.

This battery must have close to 3,000 miles on it.  It still has most.of.its.original  capacity, but gets too hot too easily.  The cells were inexpensive 2$ each 2600mah, 15 amp continuous discharge rating.  No fan.possible inside.enclosure. Need a  cooler running cell.

The cylindrical lithium cell arena is now making strides.  I can fit 20 21700's which have 4500mah each and 45amp CDR, in my enclosure. Higher capacity and a fraction of the resistance. More range, less voltage drop, more.torque.

I just have no money to acquire them.

Thx for the update on new batt tech ! (The fan fanatic files..)
You have the ability to rebuild it all better than ever.
Maybe you can find a set of football shoulder pads at goodwill ? LOL Nahh you're gonna heal up , just take it a little less extreme for a bit. Scratches for miss fuzzy butt !

If I were smart, I'd wear some.protective gear when getting my calves to burn and my wheels too.

In reality I have not owned shoes since December 2022.
Boots and flipflops, and I skate barefoot.

Fiona doing much better the last 6 hours.  Doing that hound of the baskerville thing along back fence. Slather grunt snort, stick nose into fence crack and breathe super heavy. Tail high.

I've been  fine tuning her chariot. Removing weight, wind slipperfication, no straight lines where possible.  Gonna get fiberglass and epoxy.

My portable 100 watt panel could shade the chariot basket nicely.

Chariot can carry extra batteries easily.

Charge and ride, parkwalk and charge.

The 50mm x 10mm 24vdc Delta fans arrived today.

I tested one from 12 to 29.6 volts.
Works as hoped, and as expected.  Not much airflow at 12v,.but a respectable amount at 29.6v

It bridges the finned heatsinks of my 150 watt voltage booster nicely.

I put this booster, and a  China made 7s2p  104wh battery into the  Chariot, and towed Fiona to the far park, and charged 10s from 7s,  at 160 watts, and the booster stayed nice and  cool.

I used the whole capacity of the 7s2p, until its BMS shut it down, at about 3 volts per  cell.
It gives about 50% more range potential, but the added torque with a full battery, is more appreciated than another 3 to 5 miles of range.

I can carry my 2 5s2p 72 wh Ridgid drill batteries for another 144wh of charging capacity, but excessive heating of the Main 10s2p battery, and the small hub motors is the limiting factor.

The lesser the input voltage, the harder the booster has to work to output 42v, and the more heat it generates, and the lesser the input voltage, the slower the 24v fan spins, so not ideal, but perhaps a non issue.

Fiona gets her sutures out tomorrow.  She is doing well, and will often refuse to leave the chariot when we return home from a cruise

The basket's flow through design is working as intended.

I tested my 100watt 12v nominal solar panel, charging my 10s battery through same Vboosters today near noon.  I can dial as much as 82 watts at noon, but any passing shadow has booster input voltage drop below 10 and output wattage drop to 53.    Same  when dialing  current to 84 watts..Input voltage  collapses. I have to crank current potentiometer way down, to below 53 watts, for solar panel voltage to rebound above 16.  At that point i can crank back up towards 82 watts.

If I keep max booster output at 53 watts, then I can fully shade panel, and.voltage dropss to 9.83, but then recovers automatically to 16v+ in full sun.  So 29 extra watts are basically available, in ideal sun, and no bird shall shadow panel.

When it does drop to 9.83v input, the booster still outputs 53watts but the minimum input voltage is said to be 10v, and the bigger the input and output delta, the worse the efficiency.

The panel could shade the  chariot's basket nicely, and 53 watts of generation is not nothing.

Lots of potential windage at 20mph though.
A 53watt solar awning is possible

Not sure it will ever be more than a possibility though.  Today was just proof of concept.

My esk8 battery enclosure, can accept a 10s2p of 21700's and.go.from its current 5.2 ah and 30 amp.max CDR, to 9.0ah, and 90 amp CDR with BAK 45D tabless cells.

My ESC is 24 amps max.
My 3k mile 10s2p sags to 36.5v, from 42, by the time I hit 16mph at max throttle, solo.

The BAK 45D will likely stay above 40.5v in same situation.

The EVE 50PL is likely  close to a year away from the average joe's grubby paws, but preproduction samples have made it.into a few select hands, and initial testing shows it is sagging less/ holding more voltage under high loads,  and delivering more mah at 40 amps, than any other cell to date, by a substantial amount.

The BAK 50D and Ampace 50PL should be amazing 21700 performers too.

Glad she's healed up . Her chariot looks awesome ! Now back to the regularly scheduled program Mr. ! You obviously weren't done with that cruise ! LOL Maybe not enough cormorants spotted and given the usual lecture ??

Sussing out the next generation of batpacks is interesting . Sounds like you're in your element with that tech. You're making me itch for some 21700s .
OH and one more thought . HER CHARIOT LOOKS AWESOME !

The chariot is still a work in prgress.
There is some overbuilt weight which can be removed from recycled pallett doug fir basket still.

It.is.going to het some.LED taillights, and burned darker, and everytbing sealed with epoxy.

The plywood axle baseplate with the Cedar forks and teak handle, are going to look far different when coated with epoxy. Some areas will get some.fiberglass roving as joint.lashing. Cedar can split along the grain, and the long deck screws did split the verticals in parts, so.lashing will prevent furthering that, and maybe look pretty cool.

Since this was designed to be used every day there are a bunch of visible fasteners that i would rather hide, and some.other compromises made which bother me, but function first.

I expected to be able to finish the chariot during Fiona's recovery, but every stage takes 3x long as expected, and on Sunday, Fiona insisted she was good enough to roll.

Ready to go , back to the program.
Better get going or she'll probably start barking at you like the cormorants !
Or was that already covered by the "insisting" part ?
You can take your time with the finishing to your satisfaction part , just as long as it moves.

She is definitely in bark em up mode. 54lb dog with a 100lb bark.

Lots of practice.
She wins, paws down.

Todays suture removal was gratis.

So I ordered 22 BAK45D.

It will be one of the lowest resistance 36v nominal 9ah batteries on the planet.

For a few months anyway.

Vet said incision looks.good, finish antibiotics, return to normal activities.

Could be a kayaking in the near future. See how the shoulder does.
