I understand the language but learning it at 49 years of age I find it difficult to speak. That and the inherent laziness of native English speakers. The rest of the world speaks English so 'I don't gots (SIC) to learn another one.' Most other parts of the world speaking three or four languages fluently is basically the norm. Not the case in North America but then you know that. We speak two in Canada but few actually do past pleasantries. Dialects in America and Canada can sound like another language!! I think that was all that was meant.
