Great article. Going with real fiberglass is a possibility too. The thing is, the article talks about styrene emissions and the components, vinyl esther resin, etc are considered industrial chemicals. From my years around boats, I know that their use in dockyards was pretty well regulated.

The quadraxial fabric they talk about in the latter part of the article would be an ideal skin... and something like it could be found likely from marine industry suppliers.
I would just need an alternative binding agent or an industrial location where I can do it.
That’s the appeal of fiberglass screen and household paint, or drop cloths and wood glue (the latter from people using wood as their core.)
Household paint binds to polyisocyanurate pretty well it seems.
The whole molding process and vacuum bagging is needed for RV bodies or anything with a complex shape, but a flat panel can be made on sawhorses.
