Personally, I think that's silly.  If the vast majority of people stopped living lives of "quiet desperation", there would be no one to make vehicles, refine petroleum, and grow food, and we'd all be reduced to wandering around, on foot, as hunter-gathers.

I think the mission is silly for another reason:  some folks are so conditioned to the nanny state system they are unable to think or do for themselves.  As Trainchaser said elsewhere:  "If you can’t recognize danger when you see it, this is not the life for you."


It's why I think spoonfeeding new posters is potentially harmful.  Those who are paying attention will pick up the trail and start running.  Those who can't follow the trail don't need to be wandering around on their own anyhow.
