Welcome! If you ever need to get back on the water come to Michigan. Still lots of shipping & it's history. They used to put barrels of whiskey in the holds for ballest & a round trip from St Joe or South Haven to Chicago & back did the same as aging it 7 years or so I'm told. Might combine 2 of your interest & sell whiskey round trips.

I have friends in the North-East i want to visit some time, my only time that way was Boston, Chicago and New York in the winter,all work related not by choice.
On the spirits, in Cayman I had a buddy that was involved in 7 Fathom rum, matured in underwater cave at 42 feet ( 7 fathoms )constant sea temperature and motion rocking the barrels so no need of manual turning which matured the rum faster than normal.
A very good and well priced rum, can't find it where I live unfortunately. Google it and see.

Getting back on the water was important to me, so one of my hobbies is wooden boat building mostly Kayaks (13) but have built 16'' skiff 20'' Cat Ketch and 18'' Trimaran, passes the Covid down time right now.
