I ran across this idea over on one of the mainstream RV forums. It caused me to have one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments.
The person sends his/her GPS coordinates to a home bound family member every night, either via text, email, or with one of those satellite gadgets (InReach?) if no cell service. This not only relieves the recipient, knowing that you are ok and where you are, THEY CAN USE GOOGLE EARTH to examine the area, and maybe use email to suggest areas to explore. If you can get access to Google Earth too, you could actually have a real time conversation with them via email. Maybe jointly choose some pictures to take at ground level and send to them, etc.
Next best thing to having them with you . . .
