Traveling With Pets
#1
Many of the people that I have met on the road have company. I have a cat that has the opinion that he is the master of every campsite. At 16 years old, his catitude is there. Most dogs respect him, with the exception of Blanches “Nibana” that seems to have a death wish.

A cat needs a poop box. I have a plastic tub with a lid with a hole cut in the end about 4 inches up. Tidy Cat scoopable litter seems to work the best. A small automotive floor mat catches most of the litter that is on his feet when he walkes out. I clean it twice a day.

The water bowl is a fancy two piece unit with the name WATER HOLE that keeps it from splashing out under normal circumstances.

Food is a critical issue. After going through many different kinds, I have found that Purina Cat Chow Naturals to be what makes him healthy and happy. Buy the small bags and seal it in a gallon freezer bag. Fresh food is always healthier and appreciated. Lots of treats makes any animal (little fur baby) want to stick around.
Compared to parenting, Cat herding is less complicated

Molly Wolly Doodle the wonder dog is known near and far for her adventures as well. Definitely not feared, but always loved.
We would be lost without our furry companion.
From what I have seen over the years most varieties of critters adapt to mobile life rather well as long as their humans make sure to keep them feeling safe and sound.
Mrs bLEEp is currently searching for a new fur covered crew member. We figure if we have both Molly and ourselves showing the new pup the ropes we will have a traveling companion fit for the next ten years. (Our goal date to have our land and cabin built)
It seems to me that certain k9 breeds are better suited for travel than others.
IMO Labs, German Shepard’s and other medium sized retrievers are best suited for what we require. However, both Sleep as well as Blanch’s little rug rats do extremely well out here as well and are always welcome in any bLEEp camp. Abnorm’s kitties were even coming around with Molly by the end of the RCR this year.
I’d rather have the fur balls than most people.

Since my puppies are mentioned twice...... I started out with three doggies and the third died the second month of this adventure. She had a severe heart condition so it wasn’t unexpected. Now, more than two years into this journey, I still have Nibbanna (a slightly opinionated and pesky five pound teacup poodle) and Sequoia ( a slightly paranoid and barky doxiepoo ) and I’d be lost without them. They are my little best friends and I am blessed to be their pack mate. They are loyal and loving, care deeply about me, and never left my side when my depression was at its worst.

This current spot in the Sierras is where all three of us are happiest. We are alone with no one in sight. They have been exploring and chasing chipmunks and enjoying being dogs off leash. Smells and birds and noises and so much more for a dog to be happy.

I feed mine Taste of the Wild dog food. A bit expensive, but their health is better on a better food.

I love these two canines more than words can describe.

I'll just stick to keeping and training my cooties.  They are tiny little critters and I don't have to feed them or clean up after them.  If they kick off... well they do breed quick so there is always a replacement.  They do have the power to keep the two legged beasts at a distance as well so yayyy.   Cootie Power!!!!

They still make cooties?
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Yeah, there are still cootie farms where you can find the pure bred cooties. Some even imported from the finest cootie pastures in Europe. I'd steer clear of the Chinese cooties because they feed them with lead based cootie chow. Australian cooties just swear a lot and throw beer cans at folks. Stick with home grown cooties and you'll be fine.

I've had the pleasure of owning this guy for over two years now.

And if we are ever to live a mobile lifestyle, I don't think there's anything he'd like more.  He lives for truck rides.  Loves it so much, he even crawls under it with me when I change the oil!  At home I leave the doors open on it and he will lay in there for hours.  He uses it as a dog house.

My fur baby, Smidge, just turned 1 year old

She is both the tyrant and the barbarian of the rig, She never met a dog that she didn’t try to make friends with, still doesn’t like other cats though.

Because she has a bad reaction to something in commercial cat food...she get real tuna, chicken and salmon. Most days she eats better than I do. She has a supplement I get from the vet. She won’t eat meat....and there is something that her diet lacks because of that.

She is never out without her harness and leash. She doesn’t think this is odd...it’s been this way since about 5 weeks old, so it is normal for her.
