LONG TERM FOOD STORAGE + TRAVEL

Hey Mo I thought we had discussed some different brands of long term food items here.  I just couldn't seem to find the threads or posts.  I seem to be running on empty especially over the past week.

I don’t know how many times in my life we were told we were right on the edge of SHTF.. if you go back in history it’s been a very common theme since the Old Testament. So we are talking thousands of years that people were waiting for it to happen “any day”.

Too many zombie/apocalypse flicks ?

I also stock up before going "wilding"

I have dried peanut butter , just add water.
It's a little gritty at first .
I use peanut oil instead of the water.......
(there is also a chocolate flavored kind)

Why do I use it ?????
Peanut butter isn't fun if it gets cold..
stay tuned

yea that is true. watch history and while a lot of it does repeat itself in the brutality of humans, a lot of the 'end of the world' scenarios never play out....except for those civilizations that were wiped out due to volcano/possible earthquake situations.
3 Stinkin' Badges, YARC, 3 Cat Ass Trophies , ROOIRIA Wannabe,(never happen) and still a Bisquit cause me soggy!
And 2 run down Flying Manure Spreaders!

I have & use FD & dehydrated foods onboard routinely. Have a shelving unit dedicated for them. Reconstitute in wide mouth thermos. Open can & store in Ziplocs til finished. A month supply of most veggies/#10 can - red/green peppers, mushrooms & celery lasts much longer.
I set-up Steel-Cut oats before bed & it hot & ready next morning; wash out thermos & setup for supper.
I used to dehydrate myself but don't have space for dehydrator on board now, but had it when I had step van. Picked/dehydrated blueberries/strawberries while in ME.
Frozen foods, thawed & drained dehydrate well if not close to farmers markets.

If I was gonna do this again I'd be looking for what ever powdered food replacements I could find readily available at Walmart. Keep the fridge space for stuff you can't get in powdered form and maybe not have to get such a large fridge in the first place. Powdered eggs, milk and butter are fine by me. Not sure about those dehydrated meals. I carried lots of canned good and they worked nicely. A can of beef stew or chicken and dumplings makes for a good meal. Heck, a can of seasoned green beans with bacon bits would make a meal for me.

a fishing pole will get you farther than people think in this world, add a .22 with scope and the meat thing will be taken care of

if you dont have land to farm/garden,veggies will be a big problem as most are not native to this land and dont grown in nature
