Yeah, that Michigan valve works wonders shutting off the entire house. That's the style they use here and it takes a long T handled wrench or persistence with some vice grips.

I have two of the long handle ones. One I bought years ago and one I inherited from my father-in-law that was homemade. He was a farmer and I cherish that one, it has character.
