My Old man gave me a Samsung Galaxy j7 Skypro, as it was cheaper for him to get a new phone and minutes than simply buy more minutes on his Tracphone plan. I've just been using it for internet on Wifi, getting used to the newer phone and bigger screen.
anyway. I have an older samsungs4 mini as my regular phone, on the Ting network, which uses sprint towers, and was wondering if using the new phone would be possible by swapping the sim card to the newer phone, or if it is more complicated than that, and if so and possible, what is required.
Anyone care to enlighten me?

From my experience, you can swap simms if the phones are the same make and model. There are different sizes of simms. If your phones use the same size of simms, it may work but you will probably have to go to a store to get it activated.

Thanks.
Went to ting's site, they make it easy to check to see if any particular phone will work.
The phone in question will, on 4glte not 3g. Can swap sims and activate it.
not sure of activation fee, if any.
Good to know if my 2014 s4 mini phone shits the bed i can swap SDHC card and Sim to backup phone and be functional again relatively quickly.

Stern,
The only time you can swap the sim card from one phone into another is if
I) The other phone is not locked to any network then you can use a sim card on it.
2) if the sim card is compatible same size as the old sim card in the new phone.
People that are loving and affectionate are like delicate flowers, if you don't show them love in return and nurture them daily, they will build up a wall between you and eventually you will lose their love and trust.

There are SIM cutters and shims to help with mismatched sizes.
There are also technical limitations sometimes where a different phone might not have radios for a given frquency. 700mhz or whatever.
Pop it in there and see what happens. Can't cause any harm.
