I tend to stock up, as some of you may have noticed.
One of my sources is Amazon s&s, but it's always a tedious PITA finding bargains.
Let's crowd source this task.
Please post bargain food items only.
I'll accept as a "bargain" very low price items (less than about $4 - ideally less than $2) that are market value, mainly to provide those last annoying items to bulk up an order to 5 items, to get the bigger discount.
I'll also accept very low cost items that are directly relevant to dweller life, for example, first aid kit items less than $3.
For each item, please post the link, the pre-s&s price, product description, and why it's a bargain ( no guesses please).
Optional: what you like about it & related chitchat.
Please no chit chat unless you're also posting a genuine bargain along with your chitchat. That way, every thread notification means a bargain, ideal for us bandwidth impaired folks, yet also allows chitchat.
I'm very interested in the first two of the following, and ideally am looking for 3 low cost items to bring the order up to 5 total (i.e. to get the bonus discount).
https://www.amazon.com/Idaho-Spuds-Potat...079H5B8DQ/
$12.50 (a 15% coupon just appeared - woohoo!)
8 pack of Idaho Spuds Hashbrowns (4.2oz size cartons)
With the coupon, and assuming you get the full 5-item discount, that works out to cheaper than Walmart.
https://www.amazon.com/Triscuit-Crackers...071G7JVB5/
$14.85
6 boxes of Triscuit Hint of Salt Crackers (8.5oz size boxes)
If you do the full 5-item discount, it works out to $2.10/box, which is cheaper than I've seen them in over a year (only lower price I've seen in my region, was a rare sale). They're usually around $2.50 and up.
These are whole grain, very simple ingredient list, and low sodium (my favorite variety - some of their Yuppie flavors "sound" healthy but aren't), with a good shelf life.
https://www.amazon.com/Spam-Single-Class...000FIZW00/
24 pouches of Spam Single Classic (2.5 Ounce each)
$19.80
At the maximum 15% discount, works out to 70 cents each. Walmart is about 99 cents. Plus... single serving SPAM is perfect for dealing with the craving, for those of us who get them.
I buy this every year or two, and am currently reasonably well stocked.

I tend to not stock up. That way I get in there more often and buy fresh stuff - Aldi is close.
You mentioned Aldi and I was in there Friday trying to find healthy food for a friend. She is on a low budget and tends to haul home pasta and bread so she can grab something quick. While Aldi has a lot of stuff with a shelf life, our Aldi has a lot of fresh stuff. Trying to find grab and go I found some jerky stuff with no msg and not real high sodium and very low carbs. Nice grab if you are hungry and need to buy time to cook It probably has other things wrong. They have packaged salads in many forms. I noticed they had some nice nut mixes again no sodium and no carbs. They do have all kinds of crackers and cookies and chips. Sorting through nothing was no 0 carb and no 0 sodium. There is a nice selection of produce. There is a large selection of baked goods. Then there are canned goods. Lots and lots of sodium. I do make tomato soup in my blender using canned tomato rather than buy tomato soup. The tomato soup has a lot more sodium than the canned tomatoes. They do carry broth. Make your own soup... Aldi has seeds - flax and chia... their granola is ok... read labels. Oatmeal. Then there are granola bars etc. I got a box to try. Usually I buy the cheap ones but they are really just about candy bars. They have excellent prices on dairy. There is a lot of stuff in that area if you are going to use it right away. Lots of prepared foods, meats chase, calzones... cookies to bake... Some of their sausages have lower sodium than usual. they do have frozen food if you don’t have a freezer prepare to use it right away. They also have a lot of food similar to Costco but packaged smaller. I’m betting there are ties. The barbecue pork and chicken is good but a little salty. Both have cream puffs and I’ve seen other items that look like they cross.
The other place I like to go is the Mexican grocery. They eat pretty healthy. They have some nice produce and lots of spices stuff Aldi doesn’t have. Ours has a huge selection of dried beans. I like to use dried hominy, carrots, onion and sausage and a little spice since it is kind of bland. The one here cooks barbecue and you can buy it by the pound. We like to get that some times. Don’t forget Mexican pop. They use sugar rather than corn syrup. Ours has a bakery. Their baked goods aren’t real sweet! Some have a restaurant, bakery, meat and who knows what else.
Costco is a great place to stock up on stuff... I’m thinking some of it might be mail order or you can order it and pick it up. I keep a membership because they are close and I buy gas there. They have the dried hash browns seasonally. A lot of their stuff rotates around seasons. You can eat samples in there and they have a lunch counter.
In Wisconsin we shopped at Woodman's. I got an assortment of true lemon, true orange and true lime. It is more money here and less in a box. I got a years supply.
There are some mail order health food places but you have to order s lot of stuff.
I have a friend who shops somewhere the Mormons shop. Lots of dried veggies, etc. I have dried food from who knows when but never use it.
I prefer to buy meat where they kill it, cut it and chill it.
If you are ever in Cincinnati a must stop is Jungle Jim’s on route 4. I will not say more. They do have a web page. I can remember when it was a produce hut. It is an all day foodie excursion... up the road is a really good thrift store. La Rosas is the local pizza franchise... or there is Dairy Farmers for milk shakes and hand dipped ice cream. Don’t miss any of it.
Then some where I have a list of scratch and dent grocery stores. http://www.extremebargains.net/discount-...directory/
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

We are all going to follow your suggestion - said nobody that ever came to this forum.
Good luck with that! I’m afraid I’m going to have to nominate you for an aint right badge for even dreaming that you could start a thread on this forum with a rule for people to stay on topic Bwahahahaha. Go to the YARC where you belong Kaylee.

Stinkin' Badge confirmed .
No one should really ever be without at least one.......
It does seem a bit optimistic......though NOT impossible.
Maybe the Badgernator can give her some tips on herding cats ?

Kaylee seems to be the kind of person that would be a natural at herding cats. Either you got it or you don’t.
I know nothing about online shopping for food. What I am good at is making a meal out of bits and pieces of whatever.
Canned tomato soup, a handful of rice or noodles and some little smokies make two meals in a roadpro oven in about 45 minutes If you get to Aldi first thing you can find discounted meat and have a great base for several meals.
Compared to parenting, Cat herding is less complicated

I'm surprised I never thought of doing that !
Does present an awards presentation dilemma though .....
Kaylee
I'm sure you can find a couple of pics in the archives for your "Stinkin' Badge" and the "trophy".
(you can skip the acceptance speech for the extra time it takes you ,,,,if you want to.... but , of course it could be your chance to say anything you like !)
