All about Chromebooks, security & sandbox banking

I got the Samsung last year from Best Buy and like it's speed and battery life. Have to check model and post later.

I shopped 2 WallyWorlds and both were out. The electronics techs at both stores told me under their breath that even though they would get an employee discount they would not buy a chromebook here. They were out because of issues and returns. TV's are ok but never buy a puter from them. (Just passing on what I was told, your experience may differ).

Thanks for your help Matlock.... my old laptop's battery is lasting about an hour now, and I don't want to spend any more $$ on it.

I'd imagine that issues and returns are a function of buyers not understanding the product. It's not a windows computer.

If I can't wipe it (like with a cloth?) and install a flavor of Linux, I won't buy it.

That's a load for a laptop battery. Maybe you should try to get a used EV battery pack.

Or at least dualboot.  I'm the same but I've left ChromeOS on this little monster so far.  You can wipe/install linux -- gallium is a favorite distro for that I understand.

It will run linux (a debian vm) under chromeos by enabling that in settings, but the file access is very restricted for linux applications.
