Before Fiona was mine, her previous owners bought some sheep shearers, and they looked completely evil.

Pop, sorry, there goes your nipple!

That'll buff out. good girl.

There is definitely a technique to dog grooming, lost on me.

I want a spinning wheel brush just ahead of the blade, to push her fur up against the blades and discard it, as I slowly move the clippers.

Ken in Amarillo uses a Flowbee...he's been sucking the hair off his head for 30 years!

Fiona does let me vacuum her, a flowbee would be great.

A trim session is no less than 3 hours to make that fur bomb go off

Two weeks ago I sprung for a pair of WAHL commercial grade clippers the only dog grooming clippers I can find in five stores in the town where I live in the cost was $109 plus tax.

the clipper guides or whatever you call the part that determines how long your dog hair is going to be were to big to work on Queenie I think the smallest was 1/2 inch and the next one was 3/4 of an inch .  I can't find the instructions at this moment to tell you a model number however on the clippers IT SAYS/ called SS. PRO.

MY FRIEND BOB WAS ACTUALLY THE FIRST CRITTER I GROOMED WITH THEM. SHAVED HIS HEAD WITH NO NICKS OR SCRATCHES AND DIDN'T EVEN TAKE A PIECE OF HIS EAR OFF. Wink  He did however need to go over his head with his little portable shaver because the blades just couldn't get close enough to make him nice and shiny like  MISTER CLEAN.

I'VE ONLY READ THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS THREAD SO YOU MAY HAVE FOUND SOMETHING BY NOW.

CLEANING, RATDOG, YEEZY, AND JEWEL AND<< CLOSE ENOUGH

I am currently grooming Fiona with the 4-6mm guide on the similar to a previously linked product. The battery is now recharging, I still need to do a section of her neck, paws and head.

I tried something different, using my buckethead mini shopvacuum, slowed down via a router speed controller, just in front of the blades, and this works, but takes two hands and is only slightly faster than not using the vaccuum to lift the hair for easier clipping. It is however nice having the vaccuum on hand for all the fur that falls. My clothing is strangely devoid of her her right now, where usually I am covered in it.

Mine came with a 5volt DC wall wart. I spliced on a USB outlet to the cord instead, The battery inside the unit, is, I assume, an 18650 Lithium battery, probably low capacity, perhaps salvaged from an older laptop battery pack.

The clippers display a run time, and when new 60 minutes lowered with time to 5 minutes and it would shut off. Now it says 60 minutes then 40, then 5 minutes, then shuts off over the period of about 45 minutes of continuous use. Its pretty obvious when the battery is dying as it slows considerably, while still displaying 40, but then 30 seconds later it says 5 minutes left, then 20 seconds later it shuts off.

So the minutes left is basically to now be ignored, and the battery inside it, likely when newly installed in the clippers, was perhaps 1/2 the capacity of a newer quality 18650 battery.

These clippers get her fur accumulated between guard and the clippers and occasionally I need to remove the guard and remove the build up, and cycle the manual blade depth from 0.8 to 2.6mm a few times. Using the little brush and re oiling also helps improve performance for a short while anyway. I use some marvel mystery oil on a Q tip. perhaps not the best lubricant for it.

It would be great to be able to do the job faster, but it seems much is about technique, having her fur brushed in one direction, then moving the clippers slowly against that direction seems to be the most effective, as long as her skin does not move with the clippers or longer fur gets stuck between guard and clippers.

I would likely be done with the task, if I could swap out the faded internal battery with a new fully charged on I likely would be
I might either replace the internal battery with a panasonic ncr 18650b, or perhaps make it simple to swap out the internal battery with a fully charged one.

Looks like one screw and the two halves of the clippers split apart.

I am watching my USB inline wattmeter and can change the amperage it is accepting by pulling the barrel plug slightly ut of the receptacle. I guess all those times I used it with the USB cord plugged into a USB source have weakened an electrical connection.

Tonight at 11. The clippers disassembled........

edit Ok says right on the clippers battery 14500( AA sized) 800mAh capacity

Wonder I I can fit an 18650 cell inside of it. the panasonic ncr18650b has 3400mAh of capacity. HOlding higher voltaeg under load means it should also move the blades faster, and obviously for longer
