Holding tank: Size matters!

Spotted locally....I did not want to stop and cause any issues, holding a camera up, but as I passed by and saw this HUGE holding tank, I just knew I had to try to get a picture of it.

Maybe I can go by there in the next few days during daylight...maybe get another picture from a closer position.

Damn thing is HUGE.

They won't be dragging that to the dump station to empty it! Pump out service only.

Hopefully they don't think they can pull the levers and leave them open.

I'm going to ride by there again today on the bike...maybe someone will be home and I can kinda casually ask about it.

This is a city-owned RV campground that charges $8 a night for water and electric but I guess you have to make arrangements for sewer...or so it seems. Yes, they would have to have that pumped out...I'll try to get a better pic in the next day or two.

I've seen similar tanks and 'water bladders' that fit in the back of a pickup, for hauling fresh water, this might be some variation of one of those.

I went by again today, nobody around. 

I believe we have some roofing contractors trailers here, and I'm guessing they are out on a job, with these trailers being used as 'home base' while in this area.

a septic pump truck usually have minimums 750-1000 gallons at around $4-500,i have a guy that does 500 gallons,mine 750 was $400 last time,every 4-5 years

A septic system has a leach field to get rid of most of the liquids.

A holding tank doesn't have a leach field, so that tank will fill up a LOT quicker.

They will likely have a honey wagon come clean them out. It cost $45 in the LTVA and you did not want to be down wind.

Last night I rode by on the bicycle, and there were several people wearing neon green safety vests and hanging around... and a few older pickups, mostly loaded up with various pieces and debris that resembled a remodeling project. I asked one of the guys, a younger dude standing close to where I was, about the holding tank and he had no clue, other than to say they were brought in by 'some plumbing company' and that someone else was paying all the bills for them to be there...and that they were on a remodeling project for a couple of buildings in the area.

We talked for a few more minutes, they were from down around Fort Worth and were working all day every day while there were there, and I gave him some recommendations for a few restaurants in the area and then after a little more gabbing, I rode off. He seemed friendly but you know, kinda cautious, and the other folks standing around just looked over their shoulders our way and didn't say anything.

Which is fine...you have to be guarded these days, I suppose. Although I tend to think that with me, an old geezer riding a bicycle pulling a little trailer with a small dog inside, I probably didn't look too dangerous.

Well...chalk it up to me being a nosy neighbor in a tiny town....
