So, I haven't decided if this was fully an accomplishment today, but I finally removed my shower doors and added an "extend a shower" rod. It flat wore me out, required quite a few questions to my dad, and a lot of digging through his tools to figure out what I needed. Every video I watched on how to remove the doors showed only needing a phillips screwdriver. Not so at all. After struggling with several of the screws and researching in vain about "stuck screws," I put my glasses on <insert embarrassed grin here>, and discovered that I needed a square bit for about half of the screws. (I won't even go into why the f... they even make a square bit screw.) Anyways, bless my dad for having every tool known to man. Screw coachman or forest river for letting the last screw be wallowed out so bad I had to resort to drilling it out (my dad's recommendation) and dang near ripping it out of the wall because the screw was 3 inches long. But it's out, cleaned (oh goodness the grime), and the new rod is up. Sadly my extend a shower rod does not fit perfectly (too long) so it's stuck in the "out" position. Right now I don't care because those doors are gone and I have more room. My new shower curtain is ordered (I waited to measure how long it needed to be.)
Handy I am not. But I checked one more thing off the to-do list! Next project is replacing the kitchen faucet.

ohhh that is great!
nothing worse than 'oh it is AN EASY JOB' and ya start and learn real fast it is gonna be the biggest pain in the azz known to mankind, I had many easy quick projects that went that way LOL
Those extend-a-rods are truly nice, give that extra arm room but clear out of the way and give all that space to make the bathroom feel so much bigger.
thanks heavens for Dad having ALL those tools
good job for sure!!

The square bit, most likely a S2, is to speed fasten an RV together. A Phillips head can jump out and damage the screw head.
My 2002 Tahoe Liite travel trailer is all S2.
My 1989 Tioga Class C has a mix of Phillips and S2. Maybe the Phillips were replacements later in its life.
Fortunately, when I was getting into CRVL back in 2014. along with buying a Ryobi tool set, I bought a Black and Decker set of every screw type attachment known.

I'm sure for many/most it would have been a breeze. But I'm still feeling great about doing it myself. The shower curtain comes in today, and I think I've got it figured out what I'm going to do with it to keep it back inside the shower. Maybe pictures in a couple days if it doesn't look too bad. lol
My shower is small, TINY (and my tummy is big lol). I'm so excited for the extra space. I'll be able to shower a bit more comfortably now.
My dad is great. He totally would have helped me get it done, but understood that I wanted to try on my own.

Thanks. I'll make sure I have it on board for the future. I've been trying to buy all the tools I need as I figure out what I need.

#2 square drive screws are VERY common in RVs (at least the older ones.. , they've been around many for moons , operating under many names and I've found them in furniture among other places) .
I have removed pounds of them from my rigs and they work well for removing 40 year old screws , seem less likely to strip the heads of the screws ....
Those and #2 Phillips . Get spare tips too . Ask dad , I bet he has plenty !
You'll never regret having a new one when the worn out old one is making the job a mess.
stay tuned
