Began the complete rebuild of the over-bed shelf.. have it all figured out, but hit a brief roadblock with reconstruction. I need to be able to get a box wrench behind the support board to reattach it to the side wall after I assemble the supports.. (pics to explain after I re-acquire said 3/4” flat wrench. *eyeroll* apparently mine has been ‘borrowed’ into obscurity… )
Then I can put it together with clearance measurements that will allow for re-bolting.
As a teaser- this is the old shelf.. the standard white wire style- (which will get repurposed, of course)
I found the ‘deck tensioner’ at the hardware store has the same giant lug-bolt size as the old seat belt attachment points. And it seems plenty structurally sound to hold a few duffles of clothes and a some bits of wood. Yeah- I improvised again..
You should see the wacky shelf/brace design I am building…. Lol
New one will drop down about another 6” but not be quite as long.. I figure 3’x1’x6” should be plenty for some soft storage.

And the other ‘fin’ can be used for tie downs or hang points or..?
It will make sense later- promise
