Yes- K’ne is 13, and going deaf… so calling her name doesn’t work..
So I got a basic air-tag device and ‘ballistic plastic’ screw on collar tag holder.
Not thrilled with the Eventual updates on wifi.. but the near field location is pretty great..
Field testing one in the van, and the one that will go on her collar in the next couple days.
Once I attach this (TagVault
AirTag Strap Compact ...
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DNP2PRQ8?) To her collar..
Best thing I can think of to keep her safe- without having to remortgage the van…… (yeeeks!)
Getting mixed reviews from folks with Far more experience than me.. or a much better budget…. Lol
But doing what I can…. And its not like she is one to run off..

But that too.

Fiona has gone deaf, and turns 12 years old next month sometime.
She has a hard time choosing a good pace when we walk, because she can't hear my footsteps.and often slows too much, and i got.to give her tail a little touch for her to pick up the pace.
I don't know if her peripheral vision is poor because of so many cornea scratches, or because she grew up with so much hair in her eyes her brain ignored all but that straight ahead. She can spot a cormorant a mile.off still.
I swear that when people.in cars approach, she only barks at those who look at her, like how when wearing a headlamo at night and an animal looks at you, the eyes glow. I think she can see this in daytime at 65 yards. The nosy peoole get barked at, those who dont stare into garage, do not.
It is hard not to sneak up on her now, and startle her, when she is in sentry mode.
The advantages are she does not freak out during thunderstorms, or firecrackers, and I can turn up the stereo when driving, and she sleeps very soundly.
It makes me sad she can't hear anymore though.

Sorry to hear. Sux getting old. Keen smell goes a long way.
Smelling keen too.
Ah the expensive ones…they have active cellular and passive airtag tech along with the ability to grab wifi signals. Makes sense.
