Engel Sale
#11
The Engels use a Sawafuji 'Swing' compressor.

In my experience the Sawafuji is a vibrating noise maker, and the Danfoss is 2/3 quieter and makes 1/15th the vibration. Some sawafuji's are apparently louder than others. Luck of the draw, and how well it is dampened.

The sawafuji could likely be more durable in a high vibration environment as a danfoss if moved abruptly when off, will make a clunk.

I had a Norcold De-0040 withteh sawafuji, and now have a Vitrifrigo with a Danfoss bd35f. The VF fridge allowed me to insulate it, and to ventilate the condenser and compressor it better, and it uses less electricity, and makes less noise, and no way would I ever personally consider a sawafuji compressor fridge again, if I am to sleep within 20 feet of it.

My Norcold De-0040 looks exactly like the ENGEL SR48F-U1 FRIDGE/FREEZER if one scrolls down in OP's link

It failed at 5 years of age. My VF turned 5 last October.

The Danfoss allows one to change the compressor speeds, and add computer fans which come on with the compressor easily, allowing one to remove the heat from the condenser faster, making for a more efficient fridge.

I called my Engel the rattle trap until a really rough road in Cottonwood got it to settle down. I nearly sent it back because of it.

It'll be a long while until I can afford a sawafuji OR danfoss-based fridge. So I have a lot of time to think about it.

I also have craigslist searches set up for used ones, so if I find either one for half price the decision will be made for me. :-)

Cool

No. I was talking about buying a residential fridge from Home Depot, like a Samsung.

Stay away from Samsung and LG, they are total junk. I have been an appliance service tech/installer for over thirty years,
so I am speaking from much experience.

If anyone is interested I have this for sale. It works great, but I never use it.
They are over $630 dollars new, and I would like to get $350 dollars for it, or make a reasonable offer.
It is a heavy solid built unit, not cheap crap. There is no way I can ship this, it would cost to much.
It would have to be picked up It is 12 volt or 110 volt.

I keep putting off heading back to Calexico/Mexicali to deal with my crash.
But pretty Fing soon I will head back.
Will my Engel take a licken and keep on ticking like me??  Will let you know.

I will know, hopefully within a week or two.(of course I believed I was heading back over a month ago, keep putting it off. Dealing with language barrier, insurance companies, corrupt M.F.'s etc has me somewhat paralysed.) Anybody know some Mexicans with bats who work cheap??

handle broken from crash

engel smashed dented from crash

I liked the engel, I think, (haven't plugged it in) it will still work.
Still sitting in a Calexico CA storage locker waiting for my return
