Thinking of some changes
#11
John,

The chit chat and off topic is great and i guess it could be left as is. Sometimes i'm not sure where to post things and just take pot luck in knowing that if it's in the wrong place it'll get moved. I've gone and had a look at other forums online and the going theme seems to be as follows.
General Discussions,
Current News and Hot Topics
Military Veterans
Health
Family & Relationships
Home Improvements, Van Improvements
Holidays, Travel
Pets
Hobbies & Crafts
Photography
Computers, Phones & Internet
Safety, Security and Scammers
General Music
Managing on a low or reduced income

But in saying all of this, This is a van-dwellers forum first and foremost after all.

I’m not at all concerned with forums resembling each other somewhat, I used to read the major RV forums a lot and never cared if one resembled the other. It seemed that there’s always a “big” one then there’s splinter ones. You need subforums for certain topics like electrical, mechanical, insulation etc because it’s needed.  Who wants to scroll through hundreds of threads trying to find something on alternator solenoid wiring when I can go to the electricals subforum. So the fact that Bob has it broken out well is good for him and could be good for this one to.

Since there’s no “copyright” issues with subforum names, make it easy to get answers to questions. That’s one place the big RV forums fall down on, they separate theirs by rv class (class A, B, C, 5th wheels, Travel Trailers, truck campers) as opposed to mechanical, electrical, insulation, so you have to read over pages and pages of thread titles if the search function doesn’t work well.

I’m probably in the minority, don’t give a hoot about others hobbies or pets but I do like finding out about Dodge front end suspension problems versus Ford 98-08’ spark plug concerns vs. GM extended coolant intake manifold gasket issues. If it is easy to find out about specific issues that’s what I appreciate. When I’m bored then I will page through the general forum...

You are doing well with the forum Gary.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it?
Hey, as my tag suggests, I'm just here for the party, and of course to help ensure nobody gets hurt along the way.

I just noticed a need for a section for news that affects dwellers. I had found an article today in The Denver Post (see the thread I posted in "Other" today) and I wanted to let members/readers know about it, but I was confused (a normal condition) as far as where to post it.  I used the "Other" section because I couldn't see it fitting anywhere else.

So, should there be a "News" section for things like this?

Here's what I posted in "Other" this morning.

The Denver Post had an article about "people living in vehicles" and how they are not allowed to park on public "rights of way: in El Paso County (the county that Colorado Springs occupies). Here's the link.  http://www.denverpost.com/2017/12/14/peo...nty-roads/

The county commissioner(s) said "that's what rv parks are for" or something else equally uneducated...

Just FYI for Colorado residents or those visiting there...

This is a good idea. Call it "News and Events that might affect RV Dwellers?"
