2nd Type of Bad Day = 2 Safari Windows Shattered
#11
No room in the van to sleep.  Also it sits with a severe slant to the rear.
When I can Q and I will start doing some overnighters in the area.  Hopefully  Rolleyes

I sure hope they get the windows replaced pronto. These set backs can be so annoying.

Hang in there, the road is calling.

Last Saturday a Safelite tech put Crash Wrap on the slider door window and the hole where the front passenger window use to be.

Last Wed. the passenger door got a new window.  The installer couldn't figure it out and called for help twice.

This coming Wed. or Thurs. The side slider door will get a salvage window installed that is coming up from Bonifay FL.

This wouldn't have taken TWO WEEKS IF THE GEICO "GLASS SPECIALISTS"  Would pay flippin' frackin' freakin' attention to what they are told needs to be replaced.  I was on the phone everyday for a week and sometimes twice a day.

What part of "Not just the passenger front door glass is shattered.  The window in the side sliding door is also shattered.  No that window does not open.  Yes I'm sure.  No I don't need to go look at it.  The van has been in my family for 20 DAMN years!

If I'd ever said what I really thought I wouldn't have Ins. today....or at least be looking for a new carrier.  In sixteen years and 5 home states I've never had a problem like this with Geico.

That must have been the office that is trying out "you can't fix stupid" employees to see if you actually can !

FAIL ! ..........move to plan B. "We couldn't fix stupid but kept them anyway"..........
(forgot to include themselves in the equation,no doubt !) Tongue
stay tuned

I've heard that Geico doesn't want to have employees that are smarter than their lizard mascot. I guess it's true.

Berkshire Hathaway owns Geico and the BNSF railroad -- both have management employees who are redefining stupid. Mr. B should shore up the intelligence level a bit.

I CALL SOME  HIRING PRACTICES "WARM BODY SYDROME" .

IF THEY ARE STANDING AND BREATHING THEY ARE HIRED.

I'VE SEEN IT IN FOOD SERVICE, CALL CENTERS, AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD AMONG OTHERS.

THEN THERE IS UPPER MANAGEMENT MEMBERS WHO WILL ONLY HIRE CLONES OF THEMSELVES.

I WORKED AS THE ASST. MANAGER./10PM TO 6AM COOK FOR THE OMELETTE SHOPPES HERE IN AL.   FOR 2 YEARS.  EVERY STORE MANAGER WE TRAINED WAS 30ISH, WHITE, MALE, EX- MILITARY WITH DARK HAIR.  NO FEMALES AND NO MEMBERS OF OTHER RACES WERE HIRED.  JUST GUESS WHAT OUR DISTRICT SUPEVISOR LOOKED LIKE AND HIS BACKGROUND?

THE LAST TRAINEE WAS THE WORST.  WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED IN A MEETING THAT OUR MANAGER WAS MOVING UP AND THE JERK FROM HELL WAS TO BE THE NEW MANAGER 3 PEOPLE WALKED OUT AND I GAVE MY NOTICE.  ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!.

ONE NICE THING ABOUT DRAWING REGULAR S.S. BENIFITS.  IF I DO RETURN TO WORK I CAN WALK AWAY AND STILL KEEP A ROOF OVER MY HEAD, GAS IN THE VAN AND Q AND I FEED WITH NO WORRIES.

AIN'T LIFE GRAND Big Grin

I used to drive for a sub-contractor company for the local railroads, called Professional Transportation Inc. My crews said PTI really meant "Poorly-Trained Idiots", and they mentioned the 'warm body syndrome'. One Union Pacific engineer said that if the RRs eliminated the requirement for body warmth, they would hire people to dig up dead people and have a voodoo priest kinda-sorta bring them back to life, and use them as drivers. His conductor said they could store them on shelves in the old box cars when they weren't needed.

Around here, management DOES NOT hire clones of themselves, because they don't want the competition. If they hired someone like themselves, that person might go after THEIR job; so they deliberately hire idiots. Just think what ten years of that will do!

I worked for a sucky company but had the worlds best manager. He just called me and it’s been 5 years since I worked with him.
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Angry I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BELIEVE IT!

The window in Bonifay FL was never shipped.  That's O.K.  it was THE WRONG WINDOW.

I gave the woman there all the info on make and model + the vin# and I said IT is a Hightop Conversion by Glaval model AUTOFORM on a 1998 GMC Safari van.  The window is fixed and DOES NOT OPEN.
That was on THURS. or FRI. about 2 weeks ago, I went to the local installer here and they measured the window and called the salvage yard while I was there and they were told YES WE HAVE IT.  <<<<<That is Landress Auto Salvage in Bonifay FL.

Today Landress told me they had called the local glass installer and told them they do not have a window for the Safari.
So far the local glass co. has not passed that information along to me. The woman at Landress told me she was thinking the Safari is a big van. WTF?

Information I have that I hope will help me and maybe others is this.......> CPC the co in IN that bought all of Glaval van conversion related items is the co. that provided my mechanic with the wiring schematic for the Safari when I first got it and it had a ton of shorts in it.

CPC is now also Parkin Accessory phone # 800-348-3708 they have a glass co that will make a window to fit the Safari to the original specs. It's not cheap, the window $366.66 plus seal kit + boxing + ups  is $441.66.  I'm not sure what other things they have for vehicles.  They have been helpful in the past and are the only place who has even mentioned the possibility of having a new window made.

Everyone who I've dealt with on this has screwed up one way or the other.  Except the Safelite installer and their guy who did the crash wrap 2 days after the windows broke.

At 4:45 I called the paint and body shop next to my storage facility where the Aliner is at.  I caught the owner who it turns out also does glass installations and has been in the busines for 43ys.  He said to bring it by tomorrow and he'd take a look.  I'm hoping we can put in a window that opens.  I don't care what it looks like if they have to weld in metal and then put in a window.  He had a big older GMC conversion van on his back lot at one time.  I'm hoping it went out to his farm where I've been told he keeps around 200+ vehicles.

Sick  I'm sick, tired, hungry and pissed.  Angel  I better hurry and call Geico before  I feel better.

"The woman at Landress told me she was thinking the Safari is a big van. WTF?"

People like that need to stop trying to think and just use the info they've been given. If they can.
