I've only managed the spill free oil change twice, once when I used an awl to puncture the low point of the filter's can and let it drain overnight, and the other time when the antidrainback valve in the filter failed(3 seconds of valvetrIn noise on every startup) and when i unscrewed it found the filter haLf full.

I really dislike how the engine mount gets soaked with oil when unscrewing a full healthy adbv filter. Motor oil eats rubber, so lets put rubber right below where it is guaranteed to be regularlly oil soaked, said some Chrysler engineer, long ago.
