Holiday the Shuttle Bus
#41
Not much more progress on the bus. The last ceiling panel is down, as well as the rear AC. But it looks like I will need to keep the rear AC and heater for now.

The wheelchair lift still has to be removed as well, and scrapped since the local council on aging doesn't want it.

Other than that, I put up rain gutters over the windows. I'm not crazy about how the ends look, I didn't get them neat enough, but I'll just let them do their thing for now.

Well the wheelchair lift is gone!

That's the last of the demo process. Now onto repairs. There's a small heater that works when the engine is running that my friend was working to move forward. He found rot around most of the edges driver/passenger sides. It's not the actual boards, but something they stuffed in the gaps under fiberglass "flaps." It was either untreated wood or possibly more of that cardboard stuff that seems to be around randomly (not encased in fiberglass).

So the edges have been cleaned up, and on the driver's side, he has cut pieces of wood to go in the gaps. He will bondo over it tomorrow. On the passenger side, he's filling that with "great stuff" from underneath since the fiberglass is intact on that side.

Next week the insulation and flooring goes in.

Slow progress. Black flexseal paint added under the bus to keep it waterproof. Floor insulation is down, along with a sub floor over that.

A second coat of paint was added after this picture was taken.

Windows that are being covered during the build were painted today with the rest of the black flexseal paint (second coat will go on tomorrow).

They already look great from outside/can't see in.

Repairs:
bifold doors stopped working after the wheelchair lift was removed, fixed today... Overzealous removal of wires and a 100 amp fuse... he put them back
Some leaks fixed. Still one leak to go, replacing the emergency hatch (i have it, we are waiting on some good warm sunny weather for a few days)
My wheelchair lift doors are off/bent a little...he's going to try to work on them some more tomorrow.

That's the easiest way to find out what wires do !
Roof hatch will be a breeze.
Bent doors might like to whistle....

He's fixed them/made them as even as possible. Should be no more leaks. I'll add weather stripping to it again if needed.

I predict your "helper" will have that rig in fine shape before you know it !
You're a lucky dog....Make sure you feed him well. And don't forget the treat on completion.
Well no rig is ever really "done" !
stay tuned
