All a dog knows is that it wants to be a dog. Its great she is in good spirits. It is awesome she isn’t affected by the infection. Attitude counts for a lot. I m hopeful she will return to her goofball self soon.

When you can try the BPC 157. If you want shoot me a DM with an addy and I’ll send you a bottle. Just paying it forward. You can do the same when able.

Be well the fucking lot of you.

My dogs have never worn the ‘cone of shame’
I always keep a Carpet Collar on hand.

Directions:

***********

C Collar
Scrap real carpet - the thick heap shag kind with the hard backing-

Measure dog base of ear to shoulder blade and around neck

Cut carpet 2x length ear to shoulder and 1.5 x around neck

I fold carpet 1/4s from top and bottom edge (slackers just fold in half.. but I loathe the rough edge) sort of like bias tape

Bang the folds with hammer if necessary to crease, then shape into a circle-raw edges out- and apply a few full length pieces of duct tape

Wrap snugly around dog’s neck and generously apply more duct tape to the overlap. Think whiplash collar! Dog necks are designed- such that you will Not choke them. To remove- just cut the tape at the overlap.

Dog can comfortably walk and eat and sleep, no banging into doorways or people…

Like this- but home made (works better too- because completely custom to the dog)

Thanks all. The surgeon removed an infected fatty mass lump below the 2 removed mammaries an cleaned up the old.incision, and sutured it together instead of staples. The doc seemed proud of her suturing.

I had asked about this lump when they removed the bandage 6 days ago.

Perhaps the infection was destined to occur whether or not i had been more vigilant of the sterility of the surface on where she sat and or lay down.

A culture resultt should come back soon and perhaps different antibiotics will be required.

There was no charge for today's procedure..or meloxidyl or trazadone.

The statistics say its more likely than not that she's got cancer...I wish I had followed the good advice in 2018 to have her spayed, not only for the health reasons, but also her uncharacteristic dominant behavior around other dogs, which often has them snap at her.

They sent her out with a.longer cone of shame. She seems.so damn flexible, that the last one still allowed her to just barely get to the edge of the sutures, and all.over the fatty lump.

Previously, when she had scratched her corneas, she absolutely refused the cone of shame, she is now accepting of it. I have 3 different recovery suits for her. The first two dont realky protect the right areas, the third i have not tried to i stall yet but might be better. I have another design arriving tomorrow.

They want to remove the bandages tomorrow and possibly replace them.
I indicated I am capable.of replacing bandages, and my concerns of the recovery suit fit and the fact that its impossible to get her to sit on sterile towels everywhere, or sterikize everywhere she might sit, and the location of incision means that when she sits,. the incision is basically on the ground.

They want it to be ventilated, and I am like i can get her to lay on her back and am a ventilation master, and know how to dress wounds properly, and would have but was instructed not to by them.

I have her wearing an inflatable collar now, which she does not mind wearing, but can also escape from if the itch is strong enough. She's been sleeping in the cone of shame for the last several nights which was too short, and why I had to basically not sleep, to be abke tostop her from licking and chewing, every 10 minutes.

Serosanguinous drainage occurring.
Got.to keep her clean,  and swap and launder her recovery suits often.

Somebody insisted we not relax inside on a Sunday afternoon.

Somebody did not want to go for a walk

Somebody went right upto chariot basket, and sat, and made the heart melting face.

Somebody wanted to roll.

So I put chariot back together

.

And so we rolled.
