Conversion vans and travel trailers are bastards and once they're out of the factory they don't care what happens to them.  I know this has been my experience as an owner of a conversion van and 3 travel trailers.  The 2 motorhomes were illegitimate too.

Most conversion van's I have seen use stock tail lights. Sounds like someone screwed up a light socket and stuck one they found back in. An auto parts store should have the correct socket to replace it with.
